I bought this watch through contributions to a number of HRM watches. This is by far everyone says it is. There is no trace mileage and works in water for what little use it well. Works right out of the box a few minutes of setup. If you are fit enough, you do manual configuration of the heart rate to get an accurate assessment. Chest strap is not obvious while wearing. I increased my PR race alone in my heartbeattime and pace yourself. I would recommend to anyone. Elegant enough to wear all day. Definitely not something I would think a man would wear this color. It really is a pale purple ….

I have the t6c about 2 months of ownership. I was T2c and wanted the added functionality of t6c. I also bought the GPS POD. In general, I like the device. I am a squash player and is the Advanced Training Effect (TE) function (based on measurement EPOC) is very valuable. I used to believe that the more you train the fitter. According to Suunto, there is an optimum level of training train under him and not improve, train on it and you run the risk of overtrainingmore harm than good. Displays t6c Training Effect in real time, so you can target your TE, and run your training to achieve it.
As others have noted, the software that comes with the device is so-so. It does not say calculated a number of variables, but in reality, what with all the information to do so. The software Firstbeat Athlete ($ 80), which must be purchased separately all the features that makes the Suunto software, but also has a manager mode, which tells youbased on previous training sessions, when and at what your future training would be. For example, the train Monday in TE 2.5, rest Tuesday, Wednesday to say is to form TE 4.0. Very useful information. Unfortunately, my Firstbeat software no longer works and I have no idea why.
Some drawbacks: The GPS strap against bare skin is very itchy and uncomfortable. The variable display mode shows no HR-Max 1.2, a major oversight. The memory clock is filledquickly, so if you forget to load the previous sessions, you may need to delete some log files to record the new training.

I have this on Super sale on another site for $ 20, and after I put it to me and for me it worked for all these activities (including swimming). It seems to go through batteries very quickly, but I use it almost every day, so maybe why. From time to time when they are very close to someone else with another heart rate monitor on, will have difficulty raising the right signal to my clock.Usually not a problem if my bike rotation is really close to someone with a watch or another on the start line of the race, where a lot of people very close to each other packaged. Contrary to the other review I have never had redness,irritation or slippage from a chest belt, having used one for over six years.
My previous chest belt’s battery has lasted over six years. Having a replaceable battery in the belt is a plus.
I have never had trouble breathing with the sensor snug to my chest, could hardly tell it was there.
The monitor setup is a little confusing, only because of the input data it requires.
It does everything my +0.00 pulse rate monitor does and more.

I’ve been using this monitor/watch for about 3 weeks now while I train for a marathon. When I first got it and was running outside in the cold, it never seemed to want to get a reading, and I assumed it had to do with blood circulation in the cold being less than great. The first couple of days, I tried to use it while I was at work, and was warm and it would only occasionally get a reading.
After those first few days, I discovered that I was placing the tips of my fingers on the monitor when I should have been using the pads of my fingers. It shows the correct placement in the instructions, but doesn’t mention that if you’re not getting a reading you may be using the wrong placement.
For the last 2 and a half weeks, it has given me a reading every time. That includes while I’m running, while I’m lifting, and while I’m just walking around at work or home. I’ve even checked it against the heart rate monitor built into the treadmills at the gym. While they both have faults, I find that they are usually in the same range give or take 5 BPM. If you really want extreme accuracy, you should probably consider a chest strap model since blood flow to extremities is variable anyway.
In closing, if you want a monitor that is accurate, if not exact, and don’t want to have to wear a chest strap (they are usually uncomfortable) this could be the heart rate monitor for you. Pay close attention to the instructions. Other than figuring out the finger placement, which is really about as comfortable as you could expect, the rest of the features are extremely easy to figure out. I wouldn’t traide it for a more expensive model.

I haven’t reviewed products before, but I have been using a Suunto heart rate monitor for a little over two years, and thought I’d give a report on it. I have a Suunto T3, which I got in October 2007. With it, I have a heart rate sensor, a foot POD for running, a bike POD for the bike, and a PC POD for downloading the data to my computer. Suunto has now upgraded to a -c version, which has added benefits I’ll cover below. But I think my experience will apply to the T3c as well.
With the T3 I have heart rate zones established, which I use and track in Training Manager Lite (Suunto), and also in Training Peaks. I generally use the autolap feature, set at one-mile intervals, which I use to benchmark and compare performance over time. There is an interval feature in the T3 which can be used to warm up, then train at set intervals, with an alarm tone sounding for each transition. For me though, the alarm is too quiet, and at a tone too high for me to hear well at all, unless I’m in a quiet room and it is near my head. I think the issue is my hearing, and not the watch.
The recent logs (fifteen most recent) are easy to call up, and I like the built-in summaries (this week, last week, and monthly going back six months). You can quickly see summaries for distances (running POD, bike POD, GPS POD) and calories. If you want more specific summaries or data, you can simply look in Training Manager Lite.
The T3 tracks calories burned, which helps assuage the guilt for eating certain things. I can’t evaluate the accuracy, but I have read it may be underestimating by 10-20% (cool!).
Triathlon transition – easy to use, just quickly cycle the watch (press a button three times) and the watch picks up the foot pod and says you are running. Once the foot POD is on, it overrides the bike POD.
The training effect feature allows you to use the watch to set an intensity level target, but I tend to use it as and after workout evaluation of what I did.
Someone who works for me was shopping for a heart rate monitor, and asked me about Garmin. I told him about my experience with Suunto, after which he purchased a Suunto T3c, which has some added features, including bicycle cadence, pace data, and a button lock. I found much of this while I was helping him set up heart rate zones.
I really like this watch, and it just fuels my desire to upgrade to a newer model, either a T3c, or maybe even a T6c, which I can use to easily upload data to Training Peaks. I have been considering it for some time, but cannot justify the expense, given my T3 is working just fine. With the addition of the above features (especially the cadence and pace features), I am really tempted to upgrade. Now if I can just get the Mrs. to understand that I need this… And some Zipp race wheels… And more destination events…
Battery life – I usually don’t wait for things to stop working, though I have found the shoe POD battery (AAA) gives me little warning before the battery is too weak (the light blinks quickly meaning change battery NOW). The HRM and watch use a CR2032 (conveniently available in two-packs at Wal-Mart). For me, I change the watch battery after every other HRM battery change. It may be premature, but I do this a couple of weeks before my spring and fall marathons, as I don’t want to find out about battery life at that time.
HRM – The strap is comfortable, and clean-up is simple (I rinse the unit and strap in the shower, and wash the strap in the machine with my workout gear when I do laundry). As for accuracy, my great uncle was looking for a HRM that he could use in addition to a tabletop unit he has been using for many years (he has had heart surgery). We compared the results and they were the same, giving some validation to the accuracy. I have used this indoor at a gym, and at every race, including some very large races (Big Sur marathon), and with the many other HRMs around, never had an issue with interference.
Foot pod – over 2000 miles accurate (compared to G-Map), recalibrate with new shoes, maybe once halfway through shoe life (200 miles), marathon showed 26.5 miles, accuracy issues when running strides, or other intervals with unusual strides.
Bike pod – accurate, compared to G-map. Turns on automatically. Really nothing to say, other than it works, and is nearly transparent.
GPS POD – I do not have this item, as I have both shoe and bike PODs. I considered it, but it seemed redundant. Additionally, I don’t think these types of GPS units are as accurate or responsive for this purpose (I base this on performance of friend’s Garmin GPS).
Training Manager Lite – Very easy to use. Simply plug in the PC POD (USB) and press a button on the watch. It will download in less than a minute, after which you can name the workouts, make notes, and analyze the data. The detailed graphs are good visual representations of the workouts, but it’s important that you either have the Autolap feature on, or you manually hit the lap button.
Warranty – My heart rate sensor started acting strange (giving strange readings, then jumping to normal). I sent it in for repair, and it was replaced under warranty. It took a few weeks to get the replacement, but I was very happy to have a replacement and pleased with the process with Suunto.

In any If I wanted a simple human resources management, which seemed like a real watch. I found the T3 and the design really got me. So I bought it. There is much more than I expected. Its design is amazing ! Just love it. Functions of human resource management are so simple and yet different from Garmin or Polar. The graphs are large, so thatcan easily follow the workout on your watch. Perormance HRM is ok. This is my first Sunnto and I would recommend this product. I am 100% satisfied. As for the light scratches in other reviews, are probably working on a construction site, because I have done everything that day and not scratches, everything is like any other watch strach when you re .. ….
